Mini Me Has A Birthday, Plus Random Panda.

This morning I got to help a little girl with her school presentation on Pandas.

Then, this evening, I got to celebrate one of my favorite people, Mini Me! She requested a “Jungle Jaguar” party, so we invited everyone to bring their favorite stuffed animal, and I painted their faces to match their furry friends. It was so fun, if a little chaotic painting and running a party at the same time.

I have to include a shot of the cupcakes because I worked so hard on the little animals. 🙂

Brains!

Way back last fall I did an awesome gig for an ad agency that wanted to send out a Halloween card instead of a Christmas card to their clients. They hired me to do zombie makeup for their entire staff. I had a blast with them, and they were kind enough to let me crash the photo shoot. I finally got the images back. I loved how they turned out!special effects zombie makeup Zombie face paint effects zombie makeup The Painted Otter, Melissa Halvorsen zombie special effects makeup zombie apocolypse zombie slayer Melissa Halvorsen face painter

Tribals Workshop with Jay and Pashur

I had the most amazing time attending a workshop this week taught by Jay Bautista and Pashur. It was focused on tribals, and I can’t recommend it enough. Pashur is retiring from teaching this year, so if you get a chance to go to one of his workshops, don’t pass it up!

Halloween is Coming!

Understandably, October is a great month to be a face painter. I get to really stretch myself this time of year. Here are some Halloween themed faces to inspire you. During the month of October I have a special individual face rate of $25 for 30 minutes for those who come to me to be painted. I can travel to you for an additional fee. Halloween day is filling fast, so contact me soon if you want to save a spot.

Daizy’s Princess Mask

You can find a step-by-step of this design at Daizy Design. Daizy is amazing and also in New Zealand so I have no qualms about recommending her. 🙂

This second design is also one of Daizy’s. She really great at fancy frilly eye stuff.

New Henna Pics and Random Stuff

I had a blast doing my first maternity henna. I’m really happy with how it turned out. If you’re interested in henna, be sure to give me a call. Henna is great for bridal/baby showers, girls night out or teen birthdays.henna hand design with flowershenna flowerssmall henna designmaternity henna

I’ve also been working on some more detailed face painting stuff intended for use as body art (arms, legs, back, shoulders, etc.). I’ve been having a lot of fun, and I hope to paint some on others (maternity painting anyone?).

My Little Pony Face Paint

This was for my daughter. I wouldn’t be able to paint it for a party, but I could do it using a generic pony.fairy face paintmermaid face paint

Ponies and Free Face Painting!

First of all, a quick reminder that I’ll be painting faces today at Union Station in Ogden from 3-6 PM in conjunction with the Ogden Arts Festival. Best of all, the face painting is free! So bring the kids and soak in some culture.

Secondly, here is a pony I painted on my mini-me. Considering she’s a squirmy 3-year old, I’m happy with the final product. If you aren’t familiar with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I highly recommend it, and so does 87% of the rest of the internet.my little pony face paint, twilight sparkle face paint

Dirty 30 Birthday Masquerade

Last weekend, I had a great time blinging out two beautiful ladies in preparation for a Masquerade birthday party. All I can say is that that party must have been something. If I can only judge by these two guests (the birthday girl and her best friend), I’m sure it was a whole lot of fun.rainbow masquerade face paintingpink masqueade face paint maskmask face paint

Maternity Painting

On a whim last week, I ended up painting my sister-in-laws belly. It was so fun, and I loved being able to take plenty of time to work out all the details. I’m happy with how it turned out, but I wish we had a better camera/lighting for the photos. Cherry tree maternity paintingMaternity Belly Painting
