Skulls and Monsters

These pictures are quite overdue since they are from last month. I’ve been crazy busy lately, is its taken me this long to get them posted. Unfortunately, they aren’t the best since I had to use my phone.

This was another boy birthday, so it was heavy on the skulls, zombies and monsters. By the end, the adults started to join in. I had a great time painting them. The young couple were getting ready to go to a dance and wanted matching eyes designs that were 80’s inspired.

Air Show and Revamped Monster Mask

I’ve been asked to paint at an Air Show viewing party near Hill Air Force Base this weekend. In addition, I’ve got another job on base coming up and a gig for an airline. This all amounts to airplane designs, of which I have none . . .

Today I took my first crack at some planes as well as a few patriotic designs to honor the military and the coming Summer holidays. What do you all think? The kid with the red biplane told me he wanted to make a “cool face.” I promise, he was way happier than he looks! 🙂

This next photo is my attempt to punch up the standard monster face. I was kind of going for a dragon/goblin hybrid. Any suggestions?

I used a BAM mini-stencil on the forehead, and I just want to say that I LOVE the BAM stencils. They are a great way to add texture and value to a design.

Floating Lanterns and Fabulous Faces

So last weekend I had the opportunity to paint at another HUGE birthday party. This time, the birthday girl was turning six, and she was surrounded by a lot of love. The party was Tangled themed, but the face painting was a free for all. Tigers were popular, with zebras and puppies close behind. There were also a lot of fun boy faces.

Once again, hubby came along to do balloons. He’s mastered swords, shields, puppies and flowers–he even invented a balloon “gun” which was popular with the boys. One of the coolest moments of the evening was when the guests released lanterns–just like in the movie.

The World’s Luckiest 2 Year Old

I have to admit, when I got a call a couple of weeks ago for a 2-year-old’s birthday party with 20-30 kids expected, I was a little wary. I mean, who throws that kind of party for a 2 year old? I was a slightly worried that this was going to be a lot of spoiled little kids in party clothes that were used to getting their way. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

What this party was really about was sharing one family’s joy with an entire community. There were dozens of people, tons of great homemade food, lively music, and just a lot of love in the room. I truly felt honored to be invited to celebrate with these kind, generous people. I can only hope I made them happy. Best of all, I got to bring my hubby along to do some balloon twisting. All in all, it was a truly enjoyable night.
